Our favourite winter fragrances for every budget

Now that chillier weather is on the way, summer perfumes don’t quite cut it. You start to long for warmer, cosier fragrances that remind you of nights by the fire and, of course, Christmas! If you don’t want to wait til the festive season to be gifted a winter fragrance, why not treat yourself now?

Here are some of our winter fragrance recommendations for every budget.

Less than £15

Beyoncé – Heat

Most celeb fragrances are in this price bracket, but they tend to be a bit hit or miss. Beyoncé’s Heat is very much a hit, and, despite the name, is actually best suited to colder weather.

Heat is a sweet fruity fragrance that starts with top notes of peach, orchid and neroli, with a musk and almond heart and an amber, woody base. This is a punchy, playful perfume that’s a must for gourmand fans!

Madonna – Truth or Dare

If florals are more your thing, Madonna’s Truth or Dare is one to look out for. Tuberose is the dominant top note, before the fragrance transforms into a soft floral, with notes of jasmine, lily and vanilla.

If you want to try this fragrance, grab it quick – it’s being discontinued.

Calvin Klein – Obsession

Obsession is a modern classic, and for many, a fragrance that defines winter.  If you want a fragrance that smells of Christmas, try Obsession! With citrus and vanilla top notes, a spicy middle and an amber base, this winter-warmer only needs a single spritz to last the day.

Gucci – Rush

Rush is as bold as fragrances get. From the neon red cassette tape shaped ‘bottle’ to the loud peach top notes, this perfume is not one for the faint-hearted. This sexy oriental floral is perfect if you’re looking to add something different to your perfume collection this winter.

Hugo Boss – Deep Red

If you prefer your perfumes to be more subtle, Deep Red could be the one for you. Top notes of blackcurrant and blood orange are followed by a floral heart with a hint of ginger. A woody base wraps up this fragrance. Deep Red is the perfect winter everyday fragrance for fans of fruity citrus perfumes!

More than £40

Van Cleef & Arpels – Van Cleef

This powerhouse of a fragrance is a classy oriental floral. Marigold and galbanum notes transform into a complex floral heart, which dries down into a balsamic base. Recommended if you want a complex and sophisticated floral fragrance.

Burberry – Burberry for Women

Burberry for Women is a charming fruity perfume that’s ideal for everyday wear in cooler weather. Top notes of peach, apricot and pear are followed by jasmine and sandalwood middle notes and a vanilla musk base.

Lalique – Lalique le Parfum

Do you like vanilla fragrances? If so, Lalique le Parfum could be the answer. This intriguing spicy vanilla perfume has top notes of lime, West Indian bay and pink pepper, with heart notes of jasmine, heliotrope and almond; and a base of tonka bean, sandalwood and of course, vanilla.
