Awesome autumn makeup tutorials: five of our faves

Autumn Beauty MakeupHere at Direct Cosmetics, we love autumn. Instead of mourning the end of another summer, let’s embrace autumn! Last year we wrote about the autumn colours that inspired us to create new looks. From berry reds and purples to rich chestnuts and sparkling golds, there are plenty of different ways to channel the new season’s colours in your makeup routine. Want to learn how to master some key autumn looks? What better way to do it than to learn from the best! We’ve assembled a collection of the greatest autumn makeup tutorials you can find on the internet, covering everything from classic berry lips to colourful autumn ombré eyes!

Zoella – Gold Eyes and Berry Lips

Let’s start with the most popular beauty blogger on YouTube: Zoella herself. In this video, Zoe walks us through a dramatic autumn lip: bold, vampy berry lips with contrasting gold eyes. Most of the video is dedicated to getting the perfect foundation in place. Then she moves onto her eyes and lips, taking us through each step slowly and providing product recommendations along the way. As Zoella notes at the end of the video, this look is certainly not for the faint-hearted, but if you’re feeling brave enough to try such a dark lip colour, go for it!

Lisa Eldridge – Plum Chic

Lisa Eldridge is one of the most renowned make-up artists in the world, counting Cara Delevingne, Emma Watson, Kate Moss and Katy Perry amongst her clientele. She’s also known for the dozens of makeup tutorials she produces each year. Amongst last year’s crop was this autumn-inspired ‘plum chic’ look, with plum eyeshadow, liner and light berry lips. This look can be quite unforgiving – you need to make sure the undertones of your makeup work with your skin, else you could look drained, tired or even bruised! As usual, Lisa gives in-depth explanations of all her product choices.

Makeup Geek – Autumn Leaves Inspired

Makeup Geek shamelessly pinches the colour scheme for this tutorial straight from nature, incorporating olive green, burnt orange, reds and browns into this stunning look. The eyes dominate here, and they’re accompanied by muted nude lips that help the finished product stay sophisticated. Don’t have the right colours to mimic Makeup Geek? No problem, this look is extremely versatile and you can simply sub in your favourite shades. Don’t forget to check out the video description for a link to the full product list.
